The Feh! Cloth

$10.00

"Take the dharma seriously, and yourself lightly."

The Feh! cloth is a silkscreen print of an original sumi-e calligraphy by Zen Mountain Monastery's founding abbot, John Daido Loori Roshi (1931—2009). Roshi's successors thought it was his way of poking fun at himself. The image—possibly a self-portrait—is underlined by the feh!, a dismissal of sorts similar to Bah! Use it as an oryoki wiping cloth, a handkerchief, or keep it as a memento of the playful spirit of this contemporary Zen Master.

Black ink on a 13" x 13" white cloth.

My first exposure to Zen Training was through Daido Roshi in the 90's. This has been my wiping cloth for 6 years and it has held up very well.
