Sandalwood is a calming fragrance used extensively as a base for incense. Mainichi-koh, or Viva Pine, is used daily at Zen Mountain Monastery and Fire Lotus Temple in Brooklyn. The short incense now comes in a loose bundle, eliminating the paper used to wrap individual rolls.
Please choose Single Short or Long Rolls (30 sticks in a roll), or Box of 5 Long Rolls or Box of 300 Short Sticks.
Burns clean and all the way down and the scent is light and serious, and lingers.
This sandalwood incense is lovely: where some incense can have a slight dusty or smoky odor, this has a clean, straightforward scent that is very present but not too strong. And while I'm partial to most incense, my spouse finds the smoke of some to cause eye and nose discomfort. This incense does not cause those symptoms and is very well liked in our home. It is a wonderful zazen companion.
This incense is by far my favorite. It is the incense used at my Temple, and I burn it at home for my practice. It is very, very similar to the incense burned at Eiheiji and for those of us in the Pacific Northwest, Hosshinji and Soryuji.
Love the scent and love the price great product
The incense is fragrant, but not overpowering. The quality is very good. I lit it before meditation and enjoy it very much. Thank you.
Before moving to CA, we routinely visited ZMM...Sunday kid's programs, retreats etc. The smell of this incense brings back all of the memories of that place and time, the many things we learned and most of all the serenity of the monastery. We use it in our home zendo, on the kitchen alter and in our grandson's room as he learns the buddha way and to be at peace with his past.
The scent is piney & musky. It lingers & is reminiscent of the Monastery which makes it espccially wonderful for me. I've used it for years.
This is my favorite so far. The smell is really nice and smooth, and yet not overpowering. It adds the perfect amount of scent to even my small room.
I stayed at the Zen Mountain Monastery some years ago and came home with this incense. Each time I have burned it since, I am reminded of the experience of meditation and connection…how wonderful.
