...Seat and Tibetan Mountain seat Zabuton. My name is David Greer. I'm fifty-one years old and work in a health food store in my home town of Vandalia, Illinois. I had been practicing zazen for just about five years when I first saw this cushion set several weeks before Christmas. I was very intrigued. I live with several spinal injuries and sometimes sitting a mere twenty minute round of zazen can make one or both of my feet fall asleep as my back cramps up. I had been making due with a selection of piece meal cushions, pillows and rugs but at this point in my practice I had been looking for a way to extend my sitting and also be able to sit more frequently and this Tibetan Mountain Set seemed everything I was looking for however, on the whole, I found very little information about the Tibetan Mountain Seat in general and no feedback on this site about either. Why? I have no idea but, if I wanted to order these items, it would have to take a chance and with taxes, shipping and handling this set came to two hundred fifty four dollars which, for me, represents a fair investment as I am in no way wealthy. After thinking about it for a while and reading over the Monastery Store returns policy I decided to make the leap and take a chance. My packages arrived very quickly...a pleasant surprise...considering the holidays and so I had the set before New Year's Eve which was perfect. My early impressions of the set is...Fantasic! The Tibetan Mountain Seat is very firm but conforms wonderfully to what remains of my old buttocks while the TMZ(Tibetan Mountain Zabutan is very plush and yet incredibly supportive. I like to sit in Burmese Position and so I like to sit a little "higher" on the cushions to allow my knees to slope downward a bit and thus, open up my pelvis and allow my diaphragm to move more freely. The Tibetan Mountain Seat and Zabuton work together as a single unit. The Tibetan Mountain Seat sinks into the zabuton and thus allows the base to pivot just enough to put me in just the right position everytime, and quickly as well. On top of everything else this set seems to be very well made in the USA of top quality materials. Yes, my overall first impressions are very good indeed and I would recommend this for any older person, six feet tall or more, sitting with multiple injuries and yet want the peace of mind that only Zazen can provide. I don't know how much time I can expect to get out of this memory foam seat...(Monastery Store?)...perhaps someone in the know, will give me some idea of how long these will last with regular to heavy use? So, to conclude, great first impressions, I'm hoping to get some years of good use out of it and if someone is considering the investment I would whole heartedly say, "Go for it!" I think you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was!
