Take care of your altar with our cleaning kit. First, use the tweezers and sifter to remove bits of unburnt incense from the bowl. Next, carefully smooth down the incense ash with the flattened spoon. Finally, use the paring knife to trim the candle wax and wick so that the candle burns cleanly.
Smoothing the ash in your incense bowl is a practice that's said to be a perfect mirror, showing you the stability (or agitation) of your mind.
The kit includes tweezers, spoon, sifter, and paring knife.
The ash in the bowl is white and pretty, but once a stick of incense burns down there are clumps of dark grey ash that cannot be tweezed or sieved out. There are also no pieces of incense to tweeze out or sieve. The only thing I can do it tamp the surface down flat leaving an irregular dark grey pattern, not that attractive. Or harmonious. So there is never a reason for the tweezers or the sieve. Unless I'm missing something, which I think is likely.
I used to hate cleaning cleaning my altar because I never cleaned it properly. Buying this altar kit has given me great joy. Just knowing how to clean my incense bowl has been joyful. I really love using my altar. Tending to it is like tending a plant. Pure pride.
