We've found a reliable source for our handcrafted Poplar Seiza Benches in local master woodworker Peter Moffa, who also makes our Handcrafted Travel Altars. With his years of skill and expertise, these benches are more finely crafted than ever, with an eco-friendly Rubio Monocoat finish and branded with on the leg with the Mountains and Rivers Order chop.
Seiza is a great meditation posture for those with less hip flexibility who have trouble sitting cross-legged. The bench also keeps pressure off your feet and ankles. This tall version is great for those with larger bodies or those looking for a higher seat.
18” long x 10" high x 7” wide.

The bench was well-made with industrial strength hinges, good finish on the edges to be kind to your body, and is light as you would expect from poplar. An area for improvement is on the finish. After being folded up, the legs ding the underside. I think a little poly might help here. It would also be nice to have the options for a non-skid perhaps adhesive supplied strip for the bottoms of the legs. On certain surfaces the bench can slip.
I was very happy to find a 10" bench, and if this bench had been made correctly/carefully, I would have given it 5 stars. But one of the legs of the bench was attached incorrectly, and was not straight. When I tried to use the bench, the leg was unstable and tended to fold in with the slightest movement/shift in my position. If the bench had been inspected before it was shipped, this problem could have been corrected. I returned the bench today for a refund.
I have had this bench for over a year and absolutely love it. The angle that you sit at helps keep your back straight and makes it easier to sit for long periods of time. Also because you are sitting on a bench, pressure is removed from being put on your legs and feet so they don't fall asleep.
