ZMM Liturgy Manual Cover: Patchwork Shibori on Organic Linen or Organic Brushed Cotton
Tenkozan: Made on the Mountain collection from the Monastery Stitchery and Dye Studio.
These book covers are our very zen way of using everything well. Composed from remnant material that has been dyed with the natural plant dyes we produce at the Monastery Dye Studio, they are unique works of art from the monastics and residents who work in the Monastery Dye Studio and Stitchery.
Patchwork holds a long tradition in Buddhism. Extending all the way back to those ordained with Shakyamuni Buddha, who patched together discarded rags for their robes, or in Japanese traditions, Okesa. The patchwork is a visible reminder of the interconnectedness of all beings. This is something we hope to achieve in every object we carefully construct in the Monastery Stitchery.
Tailored to fit the original Zen Mountain Monastery Hardcover Liturgy Manual, each is a one of a kind assembly, and includes a piece of cotton twill tape to mark your place in the book.
