Unable to find a suitable and affordable support cushion that was not made in China, we decided to make one ourselves. Our new and improved Wedge Cushion is designed to align your back and allow you to sit comfortably in a chair for long periods. It's made from furniture-grade orthopedic foam that will support your weight without sagging or getting flat over time. Try it at home on your meditation chair, in your office or car.
Comes in a removable, washable black cover. Wash cover in cold water, hang to dry. Made in the USA.
16” wide x 13” long x 5” high.
Having this cushion has greatly helped me to make peace with my need to sit in a chair for meditation. It seems just right in all ways (foam, fabric, design, source) and I'm grateful to the Monastery Store for offering it.
Great cushion for the little heavier person. Thanks ZMM
I am of an age where I can no longer fold up into any posture resembling a lotus. Don’t easily rise, either, from sitting on the floor. I also have a pinched nerve in my lower back which causes my left leg to become numb if prolonged pressure from sitting on a hard, unrelenting surface is done. I have to sit on a chair, and have tried a number of variously stuffed sitting cushions to cushion my sit-bones. None of these cushions have allowed me to sit for any extended periods. I’m a retired Nurse and I’ve taken care of a number of patients who required pressure relieving cushions when the wanted to sit up. I knew from taking care of such people that these cushions (made from high grade orthopedic memory-type foam) were a protection against pressure problems and that the wedge-shaped cushions allowed a person to easily have one’s spine in a good anatomical position. I was ecstatic to see The Monastery Store offering such a cushion! The one I bought from TMS has served me well. With it I have been able to attend a number of short and longer sesshins without pressure problems. Another plus to this cushion is that the grade of orthopedic foam they now use never squishes all the way down when I sit on it – it just nicely cradles the nether regions. Also, I’ve let people who weigh more than I do try out the cushion and it works well for them too without completely squishing down to the chair’s seat.
