The mokugyo, or fish drum, is used in Zen monasteries to keep the beat during the chanting of the liturgy. Its deep, rich tone makes it clear why the image of the fish—symbolic of wakefulness—is used. The drum includes a striker and cushion. Watch a short video demonstrating the use and sound of this instrument.
Please choose Small (3" diameter) or Large (7" diameter).
Great look! Great sound! Reliable delivery!
The large mokugyo drum produces a wonderful tone when struck and is aesthetically very pleasing.
A beautifully done fish drum that will add authenticity to our small Zen group, Stone Blossom Sangha's, chanting experience.
