Mahapajapati was the Buddha's maternal aunt and adoptive mother, as well as the first woman to seek ordination and enter the community of monastics.

Part of our Tenkozan: Made on the Mountain collection, this statue is an original design from the Monastery Statuary. She is cast from natural white gypsum cement handpainted flat black, bronze, or bronze with patina. Also available painted with indigo from the Monastery Dye Garden.

She is embedded with a teaching poem from Shugen Roshi, abbot of the Monastery.

Approximately 12" high.

Please note that while she is photographed outside, the material that Mahapajapati is cast from is not suitable for outdoor use.
