"Wise ones and sages have made the mountains their own chambers, their own body and mind." - Eihei Dogen, Mountains and Rivers Sutra
THE MONASTERY STATUARY is our line of handcrafted Buddhist images born out of monastic training and liturgy practice on our home mountain-Tenkozan, or "Heavenly Light Mountain."
Each day at Zen Mountain Monastery, we gather for caretaking. During this practice of sacred work, we bring the silence and stillness of the meditation hall into the statuary. What you're holding in your hand is a manifestation of an ancient tradition of image-making and our commitment to work as a path of awakening. As we invoke in our daily caretaking service: May we practice with compassion, wisdom and awareness, and awaken the great heart of Kanzeon Bodhisattva.
